We are going to look at a 2000 Aero Cub Lite C230 tomorrow.
Private sale, $4200.
This is 2nd owner, 7 years now, and it has been parked for 2 years.
He towed it with a v6 rav 4 easily he said.

They sent pictures, and it looks immaculate for its age.
It has its normal wear and blemishes for being 12 years old.
He insists it has had ZERO leak issues.
Awning has some spots where it has worn down, but this is only thing he can think of thats bad
Tires are 2 years new and were kept covered

It is IDENTICAL to this one here.
http://www.jerrystrailers.com/Inventory_Pages/2000_Aero_Cub_C230_Vin6802.html

So what to look for specifically?
anything that these models are PRONE to or known for with internal , electrical, plumbing or general issues?

thanks.

I have seen 1998-2003 models going no less than 6500 everywhere else.
it weighs 3180lbs with tanks empty.

I would say, look specifically at offering less than the asking price. Nadaguides shows this trailer for about half of what they want. A V6-Rav4 has a maximum tow rating of 3500 lb. Not enough for this size trailer. "Parked for 2 years" means it'll probably need the bearings serviced. How does the trailer smell inside? If they're using air freshener, chances are it's to mask the smell of mildew -- indicating a leak. Look for: discoloration marks on the ceiling, spongy floor, moisture/water damage in any of the compartments (inside & out). Make sure all appliances work properly.

could you direct me to the MADA listing you used?  I am having a difficult time finding this specific model under THOR, DUTCHMAN, AEROLITE, etc...
I do plan on doing a super thorough inspection, hoping we can test the appliances and ac.heat too.

thanks for the advice...

Beg your pardon. I looked under Aerolite Cub, not Aero-Coach. Using your link for 2001 as a basis, however, I still think the asking price is a little high.

If its in good shape the price is good.  A Rav 4?  I don't think so. Here in Texas a big used popup goes for that much.

I imagine this weighs at least 3500 pounds sitting there and will weigh closer to 4500 with your camping gear on board.

Don't take the sellers word for the "no leaks."  Inspect the trailer ruthlessly.  Flashlight and your nose into all compartments and behind all doors.  Soft floor means something leaked -- roof or plumbing.  Give the sofa and beds a good sniff test as well as look for stains.

He towed it with a v6 rav 4 easily he said.

Yeah, right. Dead

He insists it has had ZERO leak issues.

A 12 yr old hybrid, with 12 yr old rubber bed platform seals and simple screw clamps to hold the platforms closed, and it hasn't leaked? ... yeah, right. Dead  Also, a 12 yr old trailer should have had the roof inspected and re-caulked many times by now - has it? Question

Awning has some spots where it has worn down, but this is only thing he can think of thats bad

I guess ... but I can't imagine why any awning would "wear down", whatever that means.  It's almost for sure made of vinyl and vinyl can certainly age, but "wear down"?  Nonetheless, replacing a roller tube awning isn't exactly inexpensive.

It doesn't matter what the owner claims, verify the date code on the tire sidewalls and you'll know how old they are.  As mentioned, you'd also want to know both the brakes and bearings were recently serviced OR work the cost of doing it yourself into your negotiations.

drove 2 hours to go look at it.

 It is a 2000 Aero Cub C230 ( by Thor) d/w 3180 lbs
Seller wanted $4200, we did not pay that after inspection

5 foot manual slide out
Full bunk end in Back, Queen in Front.
U shaped dinette collapses to queen
Jack knife Couch for twin
Full bathroom with shower
2 way fridge
13.5 Roof A/C
HW heater
gas/Electric Furnace
List goes on.

It is in really nice shape for 13 years old too!
Found a few items wrong with it, which we negotiated down in price with.

1 - The rear Bunk door outer laminate was "popped" out of its lower seam track ( above the hinge)

2 - we found an OLD water stain inside the rear curb lower closet. ( it was dry, and not softened)

3 - underneath the entrance seemed too flexible, so crawled under, there was a silver FOAM panel (which was exposed) and saw there was a 3/4"x2"wooden cross member that was cracked (looked like there was a KNOT or CHECK in the strapping?) they were not petite owners either.  he was 6-2 and easily 350lbs.

4 - the right brake light/signal did not work, as did neither of the roof line running lights all around.
( I am guessing bad ground somewhere?) bulbs were all good/tested

5 - The jack knife sofa was not bolted down to the slide-out box frame. ( i will have to add new cross pieces under the box, the old holes were just stripped in the 1/4" luan)

most are easy fixes.
The ROOF DOES NOT LEAK !  wooohooo... no soft spots, no water stains, no FLEX in the roof liner.
I was not able to climb up to look at it though like I wanted, he did not have a ladder.

Bunk end seals were in great shape too.

He had the A/C and fridge running when we got there. was nice and cool, fan was powerful.
The Furnace fan kicked on with the thermostat switch on the wall. but he had no propane to test the heat/stove with.
It has a battery in the front storage, but not sure how it works with this system yet.

Tires and  bearings were replaced after they moved, dot code 3809, so thats good.

The only thing I am concerned about is the water/tank/drain systems.  we had no way to test any of these. i wont be able to see what they do or dont need for another week.

It is identical to this one here, except the interior colors are just a hair different

I will have more pictures as I go through it more.

It is not PERFECT, but for its age it is CLEAN and Towed Effortlessly with our L6 Trailblazer!

I NEED TO FIND THE MANUALS!  any help is appreciated...it has NONE... the previous owner lost them in their last move.
Thanks !

The appliances have manuals available from their respective manufacturers. Anything relating to the trailer itself will likely be generic for all models sold by Thor.

here's a link to what i was talking about:
http://aero-rv.com/index.php?site=aero-rv&kill=1&p=brand-service

under "Archived Literature" is stuff from 2000, including a color Cub brochure and the owner's manual.
also, under the Parts, there are manuals for different things in Aerolite's trailers. may be some for yours.
